"Future Success"

I think this project is important because it gives me a glimpse of what our parents go throw. I also think that this project shows use how we budget our money and on other things we need. Like for example, how to save money for our rent each month and our cell phone bills, food, and cable. This project also showed me that it's not easy to get into college and to pay your student loans. Therefore, I think that this project really made me understand that it's not easy to be a grown up. That's why i think this project is important.

ROMEO&JULIET V.S WEST SIDE STORY

The difference between west side story and Romeo and Juliet is that in romeo and Juliet they had to keep the there love a secret from there parents because there families are enemies. But on west side story Tony and Maria had to keep there love a secret from the gangs that they were in. But in romeo and Juliet there someone that was trying to stop them two to stop dating and his name was Tybalt which was Juliet cousin and he killed romeos friend which was like the joker. But in West side story there was this boy named chino who was suppose to marry Maria but he didn't and he ended up killing Tony. Therefore, Thats what I think about the difference between Romeo and Juliet and West side story.

Romeoand Juliet

After viewing the play, Romeo and Juliet, I think that they shouldn't have died. I think they shouldn't have died because they loved each other and they had to suffer because of there parent hatred. For example, Juliet cousin was like the bully of the village and he had killed Romeo's friend and Romeo had fought with him and romeo had to suffer because of what Juliet's cousin did which was kill his friend. Therefore, the family of Juliet ( The Capulets ) said if we find Romeo they will kill him and Juliet was crying. So Juliet pretend to posion herself and romeo killed himself for real and they had both died because of there parents.

Young Love , Old Divisions

After reading Young Love , Old Divisions which was about two people that were not from the same race the way they like each other and there environment they live in try to brake them up. For example, they will say comments like isn't that that the black kid going out with that Mexican girl and etc. In my opinion i think that they should go out if they want since there parents have no problem with i think that the kids in there school should mid there business and let them go out.

Back to the future

This project was about getting 8 items and figure out how much they were 20 years ago which was 1989, find out the price now and find out the price 20 years in the future in 2029. Then, we researched the price of the items in 1989. Then, we found the percentage that the price of the item increased in the past 20 years. Next, we subtracted the current price by our percent it increased and after that, we divide the answer but the current price. Next, we multiply our answer and add it to get the approximate price that the item will be in 2029.I enjoyed doing this project because I got to work with a partner and I learned to use percent change to find out the prices of items that will probably could be in the future. I think the only difficult part of the project that was difficult was finding the prices of the items from the 1989. If I had to do this project again the thing that i would do different is to choose easier items.

The Day Before The Event!!!

I feel very confident about the test tomorrow and Wednesday. I think the reason I feel the way I do is because I think I learned all the standards that are going to be on the test. I think 8th grade math is hard in some standards but not in all. I think some activities I would like for Ms.Pulphus to plan after the test is some projects so that the students could work together and we can help one another with things we don't understand. I think I am prepared for high school and I think that I am confident for going to high school next year because I am going to learn harder math and new things in math. I think an area that I need to improve in is measurement because we didn't learn a lot of it during the year and I also need improvement in the word problems that included measurement. Three academic goals I would like to accomplish by June 24th is pass the reading, math, science, and social studies exam. I would also like to leave the school with a high average, and my last goal is to graduate with my class.

Transformations - Conclusion

The unit of transformation was intersecting to me because there were a lot of different kinds of transformation for example, there is translation which is when the figure only changes it's location. There is also reflection which is when the figure is exactly the same like a mirror there is also dilation which is that the figure gets bigger or smaller based on its scale factor then the last one is reflection which is when the figure either rotates 90 degrees clockwise or counter clockwise and 180 degrees clockwise and counter clockwise. The way you can apply translation in real life is by for example, you need to know which one is the original and which one is prime and you need to know what kind of translation it is.

Transformations - Rotations

What is the difference of rotating a figure 180 counterclockwise or clockwise?

We turn our papers when rotating because it will give us a better understanding or idea of where our rotated figure is going to be. This is predicting where the rotation will turn out because it is telling you how many degrees to go. A rotated figure does not change its size and its shape it only changes its location depending on how many degrees and if it is going clockwise or counterclockwise. Rotated figure is different from a reflected figure because the reflected figure either reflects over the x-axis or y-axis and rotation just rotates clockwise or counterclockwise. If you rotate and figure 90 degrees clockwise then 90 degrees counterclock wise one of the figures will be in quadrant two and another in quadrant three. If yo rotate a figure 360 degrees counterclockwise it will be back where it started. The difference between 180 degrees clockwise and counterclockwiseis that it is going to be on opposite location

"Transformations - Reflections"

When looking at the two figures, how do we know which one is the transformation?

Reflection is like an mirror image because it is the same figure and it has he same distances from each other the only the us that it is in a different location. The way you can reflect an image over the x-axis or the y-axis with out knowing the exact rule is that if you know that the figure is over the x-axis the y coordinate is changing and if the figure is over the y-axis the x coordinate will change. The original figure an its reflection has an exact equal distance from the line of symmetry its like looking in a mirror its the same figure but the distance stays the same. If we were given the points of the original figure and the image we could determined the line of symmetry because its going to be the exact same figure but in a different quadrant. The way you know which figure is the translation is because the original figure has nothing on it like the translational figure as "apostrophes".

"Transformations - Dilations"

The dilated figure does not change it's shape but it does change its size, and location. When you zoom into the photo the scale factor is greater than one. This zooming relates to dilation because if the scale factor is less than one the figure is smaller and if the scale factor is greater that one the figure is bigger. If a figure has a scale factor of 1.5 the figure gets bigger because its like add a whole and a half. If we have a figure with the scale factor of 0.5 you are dividing the number by 2. The difference between dilation and translation is that translation the shape only changes its location and dilation is that it changes it location, and its size. Multiplying by 1/3 the same as dividing by 3 because you need to just divided by three the same thing as 0.5 you need to divde it by 2.

"Transformations - Translations"

The way you know when a figure is the original and transformation is that the original figure has everything the same and the transformation figure has a little 'apostrophe'. For example, A,G,H is the original figure and A',G',H' is the transformation figure because it has apostrophes. The new points are called transformations. Different words you could use to describe translation are move, location, number of units. A translated figure with never change it's shape. It will only change its location. The way you translate a figure without a coordinate plane is by subtracting it by the number that's not the same and if the numbers are both not the same you would subtract both and if we get negative you need to get it's absolute value.
