journal entry4:Laws of exponents

To us the laws of exponents is really easy. All its trying to say is that if are multiplying a polynomial by another polynomial and they have the same term and they could have different exponent you could multiply the coefficient and add the exponents. For division you multiply the coefficient and subtract the exponents only if they have the same variable.

Journal entry 3:Integral Exponents

To square a number is to multiply the number by itself two times and cubing a number is multiplying that number by itself three times. For example 6^2 means 6*6.That is squaring a number and for cubing a number it is 4^3 means 4*4*4.

jornal Entry2:Unlike terms

x and x^2 are different because they have the same variable but different exponents. We can combine terms because so that we can combine them with each other, and from the different ones will become like terms with the same exponent would be called a like term. You could use a number line to help you remember how to add and subtract integers.8m-2m is the same thing as 8m+2m because they both have the same terms.Positive in the first one and negitive in the second. You could just do KFC (keep flip change).Coefficient is the number in front of the variable to know how many times you need to multiply your exponent. It is important because you could say that for example 6k^2 is a monomial.

Jornal Entry1:like terms

A like term is when the two variables are the same. For example 100p and 300p are like terms because they both have p in them and you can combine the weather you add them or subtract them. For example p and p^ 2 we can not combine them.2d+2f are not like terms because they do not have the same variable so 2d+2f will equal 2d+2f.An expression cannot have an equal sign because it will become an equation.A perimeter is when you add all the side of a shape to figure out what its sum.

The information in the box "A Day in the life(of me) helps the reader understand the article because it is a schedule of her day.Like for example at 2:00-3:30 she dose office work, return phone calls and answers the mail.

Moving Variables

The way we move one variable to the other side of the equal sign is that you do the inverse operation that you have in your problem. For example 16j=12-4j for 4j you will add 4j to 16j.The relationship between addition and subtract is if we have addition in our problem we do subtraction because that is the inverse operation and the same goes for subtraction. The phrase what we do to one side we must do to the other side and we can relate it to a balance scale because in a balance scale both sides must be equal or it wont be balanced just like the problem the we need to move the variable to one side.We need to do the inverse operation to have only the variable on that side. Then you do the inverse operation again and than you already solved for your variable.
